Job Description
The SVP - Data Management will lead the development and implementation of a modern data management and data operations journey for Moody's Investor Services (MIS). He/She will partner with Business and Technology teams to drive the build out of master data management capabilities, define clear data domain ownership and implement data quality frameworks to significantly increase the level of care for data across the ecosystem.
The role will also assess and drive opportunities to gain operational efficiencies, drive product thinking when building data assets and help create golden sources of commonly used data across MIS.
Key responsibilities for this role include the following:
  • Develop Data Governance and Master /Reference Data Management strategy and lead the work to implement across MIS
  • Lead a team responsible for all data governance and data operations across application and data ecosystem
  • Provide organization, mentorship, and oversight for establishing and maintaining principles, role definitions, responsibilities, standards, procedures and accountability for data stewardship.
  • Manage and control costs associated with collecting, managing and sharing data while growing the value of the data to the organization.
  • Work closely with business and technology colleagues to create platforms built using modern, consumer focused technologies
  • Manage data driven projects involving timelines, vendor relationships, and budgets to ensure projects are delivered with the highest quality and within specified timeframes.
  • Champion the "target state" architecture and drive toward its realization.
  • Direct supervision of full-time employees, contracted employees and/or other 3rd party vendors as individual projects demand
  • Develop and manage a high performing and empowered team(s).
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Provide thought leadership in proper implementation of processes and tools that best align with the organization's strategic objectives.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Engineering or related field
  • 8-10 years of Data Management experience (strategy, governance, management, quality, analytics, etc.) and at least 5 years of data focused leadership position
  • Demonstrated data expertise in the Financial Services industry
  • Advanced experience with the major data management products available in the market.
  • Advanced expertise in creating and deploying best practices and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated solid experience working on strategic projects in data management space.
  • Ability to build, lead, influence and motivate teams through times of change
  • Excellent communication skills with respect to both technical and non-technical audiences at various levels of the organization
  • Demonstrates high EQ and self-awareness. Inspires teams to engage, innovate and deliver
  • Passion for end to end solutions and delighting the end user through effective listening and expectation management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
